Structural financial help is needed
So far Lighthouse Children Welfare Home has been managing, but they are in urgent need of structured financial help so that they can continue to nurture their extended family in this special foster home. The home is currently operating in a premise owned by an Irish couple without rental cost. But all maintenance, utility, renovation works (such as installing cabinets, or putting up awnings and etc) are to be borne by Lighthouse itself. With so many residents in the premise, the wear and tear of this place is always overlooked by donors and therefore the Stevens really need help in this area.
The food bill is always the highest among other bills. The nutrition and well being of the children are important as many of the children come to Lighthouse undernourished. The home pays particular attention in making sure that the children have a balanced diet. Medical bills are quite high as some of the children need special medication or medical care eg. asthma, skin related problems, dental, optical and of course the common cold, cough and fever.
Another important expense is the education for the children. Some of these children are in Home Schooling classes as they are unable to go to local schools as they have never been to school before. These children need special attention and Lighthouse has employed full time teachers to teach them. For the younger age group, there is an in-house kindergarten run by the Lighthouse. There is also the cost for the syllabus, books, teaching aids and resources. The other children attending government schools are also given tuition especially for Maths, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin.
Funding for the continuation of Lighthouse Children Welfare Home is vital for all the 35 children who regard this as their home. Enabling them to stay in this pleasant home environment under the loving care of the Steven’s family gives them the chance to grow up into happy, healthy, educated and responsible young adults.

Suggested donation packages and urgent needs;
- Donate towards the funds needed for the personal hygiene (toiletries) of the children.
- Donate towards the nutrition budget as the food bill is always the highest in the expenditure
- Donate towards the maintenance and necessary repairs of the accommodation
- Donate towards medical expenses
- Donate towards the education of the children
